There are many creative ways to make bookmarks.

First, cut solid card-stock into a 2.5″ by 7″ rectangle. You can cut your bookmark into whatever size you would like. Next, cut a 2″ by 6-6.5″ piece of patterned paper and paste it onto the middle of the piece of solid card-stock. And there you have a book mark.

You can also take a solid piece of card-stock and decorate it with stickers, glitter, etc. Try putting a sticker or a drawing your initials on the bookmark. Using decorative scissors to cut out you paper can add a nice touch to your design.

Supplies

  • An Empty pen box
  • Glue stick or Liquid glue
  • Exacto Knife
  • Ruler
  • 2 Pieces of paper (I used 1 patterned and 1 solid)
  • Velcro
  • Hot Glue Gun (or Super Glue)
  • Phone book or thick cardboard (Used under the box when cutting with the exacto knife.)

Instructions

  1. Carefully open the Pen box. Remove any debris (glue, hanging paper). Glue the pen box blank side down on the paper you want as the inside color. Allow a few minutes for the glue to dry.
  2. Place the ruler on the edge of the pencil box. Take exacto knife and cut around the edges of the pen box.
  3. Glue the other side of the pencil box down on the paper you want as the design on the outside of the pencil box. !Be sure to glue on the opposite side of the paper NOT on the actual print.! Allow glue to dry for a few minutes.
  4. Fold all of the creases in the pencil box inward towards the inside of the box.
  5. Use a glue gun (or super glue) to glue all of the edges of the box together. The finished product will have the sides glued and 1 of the ends glued, leaving one end open.
  6. Place adhesive velcro on the end flaps. Enjoy!
